Overview

What this day is built around

Kamakura and Enoshima sit close enough together to combine a temple morning with a beach afternoon without a rushed transfer. This is our starting itinerary. It leans toward a mix of culture and open outdoor time, and we'll adjust the balance once we know your kids' ages.

Where We'll Meet

Pickup is from your hotel or accommodation in Tokyo or Yokohama. The drive to Kamakura is roughly an hour depending on traffic.

Drop-off back at your hotel, or a train station if you'd like to end the day differently.

What You'll Do

A sample run of the day

  1. 1
    Morning

    Kōtoku-in & the Great Buddha

The bronze Great Buddha of Kamakura, seated outdoors since the 1500s. There's space to walk around it and, for an extra fee, to step inside the statue itself, a detail that tends to land well with kids.

  2. 2
    Late Morning

    Komachi-dori street snacks

A pedestrian shopping street near Kamakura Station with plenty of snack stalls, an easy stretch-the-legs stop on the way to the coast.

  3. 3
    Afternoon

    Enoshima & Katase-Yuigahama Beach

Sand play and gentle waves, with tide pools to explore around Enoshima's rocky edges. Kamakura Seaside Park's playground is a short walk inland if you need shade or a change of pace.

  4. 4
    Late Afternoon

    Optional: Enoden ride

For older kids, a ride on the Enoshima Electric Railway's coastal line makes a memorable way to close out the day. Easy to skip if everyone's ready to head back.

  5. 5
    Evening

    Return drive

A relaxed ride back, with a buffer built in for beach-day traffic and one more snack stop if needed.
