What we collect, and what we do with it

Who we are

Slow Roads Japan is a trading name of Asoko-Rantau (ランタウ東京株式会社), 4 Chome-23-9 Mizumoto, Katsushika City, Tokyo 125-0032, Japan. Travel licence 3-7752, hire licence 関自旅二第899号. Card payments are taken by Asoko Limited, Unit 1603, 16/F The L. Plaza, 367-375 Queen's Rd Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, which is the name that will appear on your statement.

What we collect, and why

Only what a driver-guide needs in order to turn up at the right place and plan a day that suits your family. Nothing is collected for advertising, and nothing is sold.

• Your name, email address and mobile number, so we can reply, confirm the booking and reach you on the day.
• Pick-up and drop-off addresses, and where you use the address suggestions, the coordinates of the place you selected.
• The date and start time of the tour.
• How many adults and children, and the children's ages, which decide the vehicle, the car seats and the pacing of the day.
• Which car seats you need, which is a safety matter and is why we ask rather than guess.
• The day or the stops you chose, including anything you built in the stop planner.
• Anything you write in the free-text box. Please put only what is useful for planning in there. It is the right place for a nap schedule or a food allergy, and the wrong place for anything you would not want in an email.

We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising, and there is no tracking pixel on this site.

Health information

Allergies, medical needs and mobility requirements are sometimes the most useful thing you can tell us, and they are also sensitive. We ask for them only where they affect the day, we share them only with the driver-guide running your tour, and we do not keep them beyond what the booking requires. You are never obliged to give them.

Who else sees it

The people who need to, and no one else.

• Your driver-guide, who receives the day's details.
• Netlify, which hosts this site and receives form submissions on our behalf.
• Stripe, which processes card payments. Your card details go to Stripe directly and we never see or store them.
• Google, when a page loads a map or offers address suggestions. Google receives the request as the provider of those services.
• Venues you have chosen, only where a reservation has to be made in your name and only with what that reservation needs.

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing.

Where it goes

We are based in Japan, our payment entity is in Hong Kong, and Netlify, Stripe and Google operate internationally. Your information will therefore be handled outside your own country, including outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted once the conversation has clearly ended. Booking records are kept for as long as Japanese tax and travel-agency record-keeping rules require, and then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to how we use it, to ask for a copy in a portable form, or to complain to your data protection authority. Email hello@asokotrip.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Children

This site is for the adult booking the tour. We collect the number and ages of children because the day depends on them, but we collect that from you, not from them, and children are not asked to use this site.

Changes

If this page changes we will change the date at the top of it.
